WACsmash 2023: The Producers

  • Christopher Aguirre

    Christopher Aguirre is an artist, born and raised in Los Angeles, California, who intertwines different mediums of art. He strives to take the audience on a journey through his work. His training background consists of Hip Hop, Modern, Contemporary, Commercial Dance, West African, and more. Chris has traveled the globe to teach his choreography to students ranging from all ages. His work has received recognition from various artists such as Shakira, Nicki Minaj, World of Dance, and more. Christopher pushes himself to think outside the box and emphasizes authenticity.

  • Sophie Fouladi

    Sophie Fouladi, born and raised in Great Falls, Virginia, is a dance and mixed media artist who strives to create works that reflect the human experience as it relates to topics in culture, society, and psychology. She grew up training in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and commercial dance as well as other artistic mediums such as music, film, and theater, and she has loved her time in WACD getting to explore her passions in different forms such as improvisation and hip hop. In the future, Sophie hopes to pursue a career in dance movement therapy as a form of mental health rehabilitation and use her interdisciplinary approach to help others find solace in art. In her free time, you can find her dancing, singing/jamming out on the ukulele, making any excuse to go to the movies, telling crazy stories, or trying out different coffee shops around town!

  • Mary Sweetnam

    Mary was born and raised in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. She is primarily trained in ballet and contemporary. Outside of dance, Mary is involved with UCLA Residential Life, Expressive Movement Initiative, and UCLA Pritzker Center. After undergraduate, Mary hopes to pursue occupational therapy and to integrate her interests of movement, education, and child development. When she is not studying or dancing, you can find Mary baking, watching movies, going on walks, and babysitting.

  • Monique Berber

    Monique Berber was born and raised in East Los Angeles. She began her dance training in Afro-Latin dance styles, later on was introduced to Hip-Hop/Street styles when she began to train under Versa-Styles Next Generation program in 2018. Monique fell in love with Street dance due to its cultural ties to Black and Brown communities. She felt seen and heard by the culture. Which inspired her to pursue dance as a career to further push non-western styles such as Hip-Hop, House and other Street styles into academic spaces. Monique uses street dance as a way to reconnect with her ancestral roots and reclaiming space as a LAtinx. Along with bringing awareness to other social issues.

  • Cristina Williams

    Cristina is a multi-media visual artist who practices tattooing, painting, crocheting, embroidery, and anything she can turn into art. She was raised in San Jacinto, CA, where she spent her childhood involved in her community educational administration and creative leadership groups. Through her stream of Arts Activism, Cristina hopes to explore a more useful relationship of art therapy and school administration. As she tattoos her peers, she has learned more about the importance of holistic experiences in the pursuit of healing. She intends to continue her art practice no matter what career field she is in.
