Call To Action

Start by reflecting and changing small habits that exist because of the patriarchy, and see how it is possible to reframe those habits with equality in mind. Continue to uplift the women and female-identifying members of your community by supporting their endeavors and investing in their growth. Begin to engage in dialogue with peers to move forward in ways that no longer reinforce the patriarchy, and encourage others to do the same.

Bio.

For my 4th and final WACsmash show, I aimed to create a work that showcases the evolution of a woman's acceptance of identity. Fostering an inclusive space for my cast to celebrate their individuality and diversity was of utmost priority. As a Dance and Gender Studies double major, this piece is a direct challenge to the patriarchy and the oppressive male gaze. Typically, by showcasing styles that have a lack of women representation, we are further reclaiming our place in these art forms and creating an opportunity to reclaim our identities through the exploration of gender expression through movement.
