INSPIRATION

During my creation of this work, I made a poem about how I wanted to approach this piece. Here is that poem:

art is the delicate ripping of the ribs to feel the skin stretch and pull to expose the beating heart

and the fragility of the soul

i open to you

Bio.

Jessica Warshal is a senior Dance major at UCLA and is excited to return as a choreographer to WACsmash, following her 2021 virtual piece, “0:00.” She is a professional dancer, and has performed in music videos, award shows, and parades throughout Los Angeles county. Warshal is a creative director and choreographer, and has worked on many pieces during her time at UCLA, including the debut of her interdisciplinary arts gallery work, “S I G H T / S E E,” and winning Best Overall Act at UCLA Spring Sing 2022 with her group, Outspoken. She is deeply passionate about uplifting the voices of artists and focuses her creative process around highlighting the individuality of performers around her.
