INSPIRATION

This piece is exploring what a sense of "home" means, while at the same time being in a state of heavy nostalgia, and feeling the weight of the past carry into the present.

Bio.

Avielle Conn Sherman is a dancer and mixed media artist from Oakland, CA. She is currently studying both World Arts and Cultures and Education Studies at UCLA and hopes to enter into a career involving arts education. Her dance training has focused on Hip-Hop, House, Mohiniyattam, Afro-Haitian, as well as contemporary dance. In her projects she is interested in emphasizing feminism, mental health, and how our relationship with the natural world affects our view of ourselves.
